Background
I grew up in China and moved to the UK for university, to study jewellery design. My mother is an architect, so I developed a taste for the world of art, design and craftsmanship when I was very young. Based in London, I'm a jewellery designer/maker and the founder of Loveness Lee Jewellery.
I am also a fan of OMGTea matcha; I love that it is less caffeinated than coffee but still gives a continuous energy boost throughout the day, and tastes great! I also love how the brand came to be. My mum and I are very close and I enjoy hearing that OMGTea’s inspiration was founded on the basis of a great mother/daughter relationship as well.
The OMGTea 60 Second Interview
1. If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
I would be going for a hike/walk in the woods or beach looking for design inspirations as my jewellery is inspired by abstract shapes and textures in nature.
2. Who’s the person you’d most like to share a cup of matcha with and why?
My mom, because of health reasons, her doctor has asked her to cut coffee, wine etc out of her diet, where matcha would be a perfect alternative drink to make her feel energetic throughout the day. Also it is a great opportunity to share a drink with her and catch up.
3. How has a failure or apparent failure set you up for later success?
4. In the last five years, what new belief, behaviour, or habit has most improved your life?
I have been going to the gym to train and also tried to eat less meat and no alcohol in my diet. This way I am moving more and feeling much more energetic, and more focused when I’m working on my business.
5. What is the best piece of advice you could give someone?
Always surround yourself with kind, smart, warm hearted people whether colleagues or friends, so you can always learn from them, seeking support and communication. It is a great way to be each other’s sounding board and bounce off ideas. So many great business ideas have happened this way for me while keeping up with the positive energy in the work environment and magical things would happen naturally. When I'm stressed with work, people with calm and positive work attitude would have a great effect on me and consistently remind me happiness is key and is what I have worked so hard for, so no stress in the world would affect me.
6. What would you sing at Karaoke night?
I’m not a great singer but I can hit some high notes (questionable high notes) . There is a famous Chinese pop song from F.I.R called Fly away where the lyrics encourage people to always seek higher goals. This is my go-to Karaoke song.
