How Katherine Swift Discovered Japanese Matcha
Discovering EGCG And Matcha Green Tea
Back in 2009, Katherine’s mother Elizabeth was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. In a bid to support her mother as best she could, Katherine began researching natural compounds that could potentially support her mother during her recovery. Her research led her to discover EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate)- a powerful antioxidant found in abundance in green tea. Naturally, she wanted to source the green tea with the highest level of EGCG for her mother to drink, and that search led her to matcha.

Sourcing High-Quality Matcha From Japan
It soon became apparent that the best quality/purest matcha was cultivated in Japan, and she began importing the highest quality matcha directly from Japan for her and her mother to drink daily.

Katherine and her mother continued to drink matcha throughout her recovery- they were amazed at how it was making them feel and how powerful their daily matcha ritual had become in allowing them to take back some control during such a difficult time.
Katherine's mother made a full recovery, and in 2014 Katherine founded OMGTea on a mission to make high quality Japanese matcha accessible in the UK.
Both Katherine and Elizabeth continue to drink matcha daily.

About Boot Out Breast Cancer
Boot Out Breast Cancer is a UK breast cancer charity focused on funding vital diagnostic and early detection equipment for NHS hospitals.
Since their first fundraising event in 2010, Boot Out Breast Cancer have raised over £1.8 Million and provided equipment for The Royal Bolton NHS hospital, The Nightingale Centre NHS Hospital in South Manchester, Thomas Linacre Breast Centre at Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Hospital and the Paterson Institute next to The Christie. The level of funding for the latest state-of-the-art equipment is almost non existent in the NHS at the present time, as confirmed by the UK Statistics Authority recently. Boot Out Breast Cancer are plugging that gap.
