Extraordinary Lives - Vicki Brook

Background

I’m Vicki, living in London and raised in a small village called Woldingham with my parents and an older sister. I’ve always been someone who’s interested in wellbeing and psychology – as a former semi-professional tennis player I would look to optimize performance by eating & sleeping well, prioritising my day effectively, and using visualisation techniques. When I first started working in London as a young professional, I really struggled because I didn’t feel like I could implement the same wellbeing practices into my daily routine, which culminated in anxiety and health problems – so I decided it was time to prioritise my wellbeing again.

In doing so, I discovered the power of meditation and started on a journey of self-discovery to uncover my purpose and how I could impact the world in a meaningful way while staying true to what matters most to me. As it turns out: those things could become one and the same! I’m now a Wellbeing & Life Coach who, using mindfulness techniques and an athlete-mindset, helps people discover their true selves, overcome anxiety & stress, find fulfilment and how to be happy.

As someone who is prone to anxiety, switching to matcha was a no-brainer. I love making my OMG Matcha Tea with Oat Milk and a dash of honey – a slow release caffeine, warming, comforting, organic and anti-oxidant packed cup of goodness…what could be better? Drinking matcha means I know I’m putting less stress on my adrenal system, my hormones, my gut and my mind, but still getting a good boost of energy so I can perform at my best.

The OMGTea 60 Second Interview

1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Being content. Contentedness is an underrated acceptance of being just where you are, without wanting more or for things to be different to how they are. It’s a true embodiment of living in the present and showing yourself unconditional love.

2. Do you live to work or work to live?

Both! It’s taken me a while to find a career that I could make a lifestyle – but it was well worth the wait & effort.

3. What one thing are you most passionate about?

Self-awareness…getting to know your soul. Getting to know what life wants to unfold through you and how you can enhance the lives of those around, or even help heal the world in some way. I think it’s one of the most important things we can do in our lives. If we all were a little more self-aware or mindful, the world could fix so many of the deep-rooted problems we face.

4. What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Believing in myself enough to transform my passion into a career.

5. Who's the person you would most like to share a cup of matcha with and why?

I would love to share a cup of matcha with Eckhart Tolle – I love his messaging around the importance of living in the present moment and letting go of the ego-self to create space for a more authentic self to come through.

6. What is the best piece of advice you could give someone?

Trust your gut.

7. If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

I would love to be able to instantly go anywhere in the world. I traveled a lot with tennis and it was an aspect of the lifestyle I loved the most.

8. What is your motto?

This too shall pass. Also in moments of self-doubt or high anxiety, I like to ask myself the question ‘Is that true?’ Most often the thing I am telling myself or doubting is actually not true and I can release the thought and move on.
